CALOHEA Capacity Building:

Implementing Student Workload Measurements for More Effective and Holistic Learning Outcomes in Higher Education in the Philippines

21 to 22 September 2023

Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines

Measuring and Comparing Achievements of Learning Outcomes in Higher Education in Asia

The CALOHEA project unites thirty-one institutions across eight countries within ASEAN and five countries within Europe. The institutions create teams in the subject area of Civil Engineering, Medicine, and Teacher Education. Together, these teams form a Subject Area Group (SAG). The ASEAN University Network (AUN) acts as coordinator within the region, while the University of Groningen (RUG) is the project coordinator. Participating institutions were carefully selected over shared values and complementary expertise for maximum impact at institutional, national and regional levels.

Message from the President of Ateneo de Manila

On behalf of Ateneo de Manila University, welcome to the Capacity Building workshop of the Measuring and Comparing Achievements of Learning Outcomes in Higher Education in Asia (CALOHEA) project.

It is an honor to join fellow educators for robust and engaging conversations on teaching and learning matters. In the next two days, we can listen, learn, and share insights with educators, researchers, students from HEIs nationwide, other ASEAN HEIs, and policymakers and stakeholders.

Now is an opportune time to assess how we, as ASEAN HEIs, have progressed in increasing the internationalization efforts of higher education institutions in the region. We have accomplished much, but know we can do more if we continue cooperating toward this shared vision. Read the full message
