ALASKA SEAFOOD
A FOUNDATION OF COASTAL COMMUNITIES
Pacific Seafood Processors Association (PSPA) is a nonprofit seafood industry trade association. Its corporate members are major seafood processing companies with operations in Alaska and Washington.
A ROBUST INDUSTRY
Alaska’s seafood processors operate at the center of a global seafood supply chain, enabling 5 to 6 billion pounds of seafood harvested every year in Alaska to go from thousands of fishermen to millions of consumers around the world. Our members buy fish to process in their plants, located close to the fishing grounds from Ketchikan to Dutch Harbor, and turn them into healthy, premium quality seafood products you find in fish markets, grocery stores, restaurants, and school lunches.
Seafood processing is a robust industry that employs tens of thousands of people in processing plants and generates thousands of jobs in transport and support businesses, while providing markets for thousands of independent fishermen. Seafood processing in Alaska means infrastructure, employment, and tax revenue for the state and local communities. To continue providing these benefits for future generations, sustainability lies at the heart of state and federal fisheries management. Alaska’s wild, nutrient-rich seafood is sustainably harvested from pristine habitats, the result of robust science-based management plans and partnerships with dedicated fisheries stakeholders. Together, we sustain and grow Alaska’s world-class seafood.
